Today we had a visit from Punjabi Roots academy. They played music and taught us some Bhangra dances.
Today a tiny duckling was found shivering and all alone in the playground! The children in Doves class took it in under their wings and looked after it throughout the day. Mrs Asquith kindly offered to adopt it as she has other ducks she cares for. The duckling has a new name ‘Nutella’ and is settling well in her new home. Thank you Mrs Asquith.
Year 2 had a fantastic time at Blackhills Activity Centre in Cottingley. In the morning the children made some 3D sculptures, made art using the natural environment and explored the area for mini beasts. After lunch the children made ‘Stick Man’ mobiles along with using a key to identify tress. A truly Forest School experience.
Year 1 enjoyed their trip to Blackhills Activity Centre last week. They had fun finding their lost bear, using natural materials to make a bear picture and making a bear trail for everyone to complete in the afternoon. The children had a teddy bears picnic followed by an adventure trail, a rope trail and a nature trail. The children were all very tired upon their return!
The children in Year 1 went to Silsden Methodist Church where they had a Mock Christening Service. The Reverend Ruth Crompton conducted the service and children took the parts of a mother, father and god parents. Mrs Crompton talked to the children all about Christenings and why Christians celebrate them, she even showed them the Silsden Baby Register Book. The children then witnessed the baby being christened, sang the song ‘Our God is A Great Big God’ and then said a prayer. They finally lit a candle to symbolise the light of the world.
