The children in year 1 have been learning about Owls. They made these habitats and labelled pictures. They have also learnt some owl facts.
The whole school enjoyed a lovely harvest service. We celebrated by singing harvest songs. We are all very thankful for the food we have. Rev Ruth Crompton led the service and the year two children participated greatly by reading a short Harvest poem and finished off with a prayer which they read with expression and ease. It was a lovely service and something Rev Ruth Crompton said ‘we should be very proud of as a school’.
The children had a surprise and had to follow footsteps hidden in the KS1 outdoor area. It was very exciting as we didn’t know which animal’s footprints they were. We then found hidden in the vegetable patch a cardboard box and inside was a letter and a very special little puppy. We took him back to class and we read the letter. It was from an old lady who lived near Silsden Park, she was unable to care for him as he was too energetic for her. So we have been looking after him. The children wrote a letter back to her to say how they are going to care for him in class 6. He has joined us for many activities in school such as learning to fetch in PE, taking him for walks in the playground and even puppy training. The children even signed him up for the vets in our role play area too! Next week the children are going to design a dog agility course (he’s even been practising to jump through hoops).
